Offline and Online Modes
Ripplex Address Book can be in one of two modes, Offline (disconnected) and Online (connected). In offline mode, you can view and edit the data in your Ripplex Address Book as well as connect with your friends using various communication services. You can perform all the functions of offline mode in online mode. In addition, your Ripplex Address Book is connected with the Ripplex server and therefore can perform functions like, search friends, send your updated information, synchronization, etc.
Note) We prefer using Ripplex Address Book in online mode rather than offline mode, because your information will never be sent to people other than friends you have specified.
Cases Switching to Offline Mode
- When user switched to offline mode explicitly.
- When your computer is not connected to network or can't connect to Ripplex server for some reason.
In Offline Mode:
- You cannot search friends with PMM.
- Multi-Computer Synchronization will be disabled.
- Some operations will restricted. Link, updating shared categories information, updating your information, and updating your linked friends' information are so. The changes you made by these operations will be applied to your Ripplex Address Book, but won't be applied to Your Friend's Ripplex Address Book.
- In spite of your Ripplex Address Book is in offline mode, you can still send email, browse a website, chat or call if corresponding third party application is in connection.
Switching to Online Mode:
In offline mode, Ripplex Address Book displays Disconnected in the status bar (at the bottom left) as shown below. By selecting [File] > [Offline] from the menu, you can switch from offline mode to online mode. It may ask for the password, as shown below, if this is the first time you are attempting to switch to online mode. In such case, please enter your password.
Switching to Offline mode:
In online mode, Ripplex Address Book displays Connected in the status bar (at the bottom left) as shown below. By selecting [File] > [Offline] from the menu, you can switch from online mode to offline mode.
