Access to Ripplex Address Book Data from Email clients
Ripplex address book data can be accessed from Email clients such as Thunderbird, Outlook, Mail.app (Mac) etc. with a protocol called LDAP. You can access email addresses in your Ripplex Address Book from your Email client directly with features like address completion.
LDAP Setup:
LDAP setup may be a bit tricky, but once it is set up, using your Email client software
would be more convenient since you will be able to access Email addresses from your
Ripplex Address Book as well. One needs to activate LDAP protocol in Ripplex address
book and then set up LDAP in Email client software. For the set up process, please
read here. If you use Email client software other than Thunderbird, Outlook or Mail.app
(Mac), please check if it supports LDAP or not but in general most of Email client
softwares support LDAP but web based email softwares do not. In our future Ripplex
versions, we will strive to make access to Ripplex Address Book data from Email
tools easier and more broadly supported
Direct access from your Email client
Once LDAP is set up, you can access your Ripplex Address Book information from your Email client software. The following example shows access to Ripplex Address Book from Thunderbird.
Auto complete mail address with information from Ripplex
Many Email client softwares have mail address auto complete feature. For example, if you want to type hogehoge@ripplex.com, you type “hog” and Email software will show you the list of the addresses from the local address book which contains “hoge” In the example here, type “Dan” in Thunderbird and addresses which contain “Dan” are displayed. If your Ripplex address book access is enabled from your Email software (with LDAP), your can search them not only by Email addresses in the address book of your Email client software but also by Email addresses in your Ripplex address Book.
